Motul states only that 300V engine oil has above motorsport standards specifications. Which as stated earlier is one of the best oils available on the market, however it might not be the most sutable for modern engines, including 2.9 V6 in Giulia Quadrifoglio, due to different/specific requierments for oils in these engines (like ACEA C3, mid SAPS requirement for example). With next oil I sarted looking into Motul 300V 5W-40 Power. Since I already bought Motul 8100 X-Clean 5W-40 (which has required approval FIAT 9.55535-GH2), I will use it for the next 7000+ km (4500 miles). However, checking that very information this weekend, even 8100 line of oils are now, sadly labeled as Synthese Technologie. But Motul 8100 oils were (at least a couple of years ago) always labaled as 100% synthetic even on German webpages. Many oils on German webpages were labeled as Synthese Technology (or similar).

In Germany, law is much more strict than elsewhere about which oil is allowed to be labeled as full synthetic so visiting a German webpage of different oil brands usually revealed whether certain oil was real Group IV synthetic (PAO) or not. I was always using Motul 8100 oils (even before Giulia), because they were true full synthetics, not just marketed as such.

Some interesting discoveries I made during the weekend when researching engine oils a bit. The 300V would be totally fine, even for 6-7K miles. Inconstant behaviour from dealers from oil to how they handle warranties. This customer is looking for a new mechanic since the dealer is bad news, they won't replace the turbo seals or turbos claiming they cannot be worked on. They are looking at easy things to deny your warranty, missing an oil change? Over intervals, clearly abusing the car, etc. I have never heard of any dealer or Alfa doing such things. My point is they are not doing an oil analysis. This dealer is awful but that's a different thread, Mainly a Ram Mopar dealer with an awful Alfa dealer connected. 7K miles from change to change BUT it was over a year due to covid so Alfa denied it. Car sat during covid, then had oil changed at dealer once covid was a bit better. Dealer claims engine needs to be replaced (it does not, turbos/seals or PCV valve most likely cuplrit as it's only at start up). Warranty denied for blue smoke out the pipes (QV, 21K miles). If they cannot make up their mind on what to use then what does it matter? I am kidding but you should question it a little. So in that case we can use a superior oil that does not have approvals. They are looking for intervals or improper use. Dealer put 5W-40 (GH2) in a 0W-40 (Z2) engine, so who really knows if the oil itself plays a roll? It does not usually. No significant improvement to fuel consumption, if any.Showed them carfax and current oil changes I did using Patronas Selenia 0W-40. Readers who are interested have to do their own sums based on the retail price of this product.īut based on what I feel so far, this is a good product. I do not know the actual retail price of this product, therefore I am not able to conclude if this product is worth trying out. I am not very clear if the above observations are due to fresh oil being used, therefore I can only have a proper conclusion closer to the next OCI at 130K KM. No marked improvement to fuel consumption, if any at all
